--vddc Command does it actually work?

Hey there everyone,
I’ve been playing with my settings to try and squeeze some more out of two R9 280x Saphire Dual X OC’s. Now I have tried using Trixx to undervolt however even just having it open seems to drop my hashrate down to 4-500ish… That’s before I even make any changes to the settings. However when uninstalled \ not opened after a reboot, I can get 730 on one GPU and 650 on the 2nd (This is becuase of cooling on the 2nd card but that I can fix once I get round to building a open rig).
Now I’d really like to not have to flash the BIOS and that’s even if I can as I’ve heard Saphire locks Voltage! However does the --vddc-gpu command work with cgminer 3.7 ? I’ve entered it to the following:
–vddc-gpu 1.087
…and cg miner is running with good speeds however I do not have any hardware to check if this is actually lowering the power consumption. Can anyone enlighten me \ share experience using this command before I have to go out and buy some sort of wattage reader?

I’ve just been on this journey.
You want to download the bios from techpowerup, edit with VBE7 and flash with atiwinflash.
If you want to edit voltage on the fly with software, you have to flash an Asus Firmware which comes with voltage unlocked.
I’ve undervolted these cards to 1.075 and they’ve been running very happy @ 735 per card. Took my power at the plug from 1280 down to 1100 watts on a 4 card rig…

Although I’m unsure about using Asus firmware with a Saphire card?

It’s fine, Asus issue the reference design for all ATI cards, so you can happily run their VBios.
You can then play with voltages on the fly.
Alternatively, you can adjust the voltages in VBE7 on your own cards VBios, which is my preferred method. Feels more rock solid…
