I’ve got a Toxic, that just doesn’t want to play ball once you stick it on the end of a riser! If it’s directly into the MoBo everything is fine put it on a riser and the devil arises and my rig won’t start :(

I’ve tried it on another MoBo same thing happens, tried a dozen different rise including know working ones off one of the other cards in the rig I have here. I only 1x —> 16 risers so might it be that?

Ideas please people trying to get the damm thing to work and it’s just not playing :(

powered risers?, if its 1x you might need to short the socket on mobo, but given that you have tried different mobo its highly unlikely.
take a closer inspection on the power connectors. when i have had issues like that is has mostly been because of wobbly connector or burned in the socket of pci-e 8 power.

Also i had an 12v molex from psu that was lose once, didnt notice it until i tried to use the molex feeding that riser with an fan, no juice.

I’ve just moved things around so I could get that card on a powered riser, and no difference :(

Everything is brand new, but I have checked the connections to see if they are lose and everything checks out there, it’s going to be difficult to return it because it doesn’t work attached to a crappy bit of ribbon cable. So I might have to buy in a 16x riser just to try that out. Frustrating is not the word!

Push the button on top to invoke the VBIOS from the UEFI partition, give it a couple of restarts, should be fine after that…

Button is already press as that is the BIOS that got flashed, tried without the button pressed for about 10 re-starts and still nothing when on a riser :( so full width riser has now been order and will mess around with it again once it gets here.

Which Mobo is it out of curiosity?

I’ve had experience with some motherboards where a 1x and 16x PCIe slot both share the same “lane”…

                  It’s happening on both a

                  ASUS M5A78L-M LX3
                  ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0

all todays was done with just this “faulty” card as a single device connected. So I don’t think it is anything to do with lane sharing, and the ASRock will run 3 cards without any issues mixing the cards around across the slots in any combination you can think off.

Like I say it’s pointing to something wrong with that card running on a 1x to 16x riser more than anything else

Is that why people use 16x risers? Are there some compatibility issues with 1x to 16x?

I dunno, I have 3 other toxic’s that a running without any problems on the same mono. All I can do is wait for the 16x --> 16x riser to turn up, should be here by mid week and then try again.

Mean time, I have a 750Kh/s card not earning money :(

I grabbed a couple of 270x Toxic’s last night just to complete a 270x rig started with spares… Damn then look good at night…

For now can you plug it into the mobo and have the rest on risers? Just so it’s earning?

That they do, I’ll take a night photo at some point :)

No can do, my open rig design doesn’t allow for it, and my test setup doesn’t have a big enough PSU at the moment to kick up a GPU mining :(

No shakes, I’ll just put it out of the way for now, maybe Mrs muddy won’t notice it when she turns up later for a few days ;)

You can’t just put it to one side and forget about it, it will be annoying you that such a wonderful card is not mining… It will consume your every waking moment… Play at your mind until you eventually go insane…

I’m sure with the Mrs here for a few days I can find something else to keep me busy ;)

But you are right, I had to rush out this morning and buy another CPU cooler so I could get the test rig running as the one I ordered from eBay hadn’t turned up
