We need a writrer.

wow.
I might be willing to have a crack at it.
What sort of content do you think would go into it?
An idea, what if a few people contribute?
Figure out what needs to be written and from there, people can do sections, submit them and we eventually pull it all together.
It would be a statement in itself.
If yourself and or someone else coordinates the whole thing, I think it would be pretty awesome.

_According to http://com-http.us/, there are over 400 crypto currencies currently in circulation.
Feathercoin’s story begins in x 2013.
A 51% Attack. It’s the one event every new coin dreads. Feathercoin experienced this first hand on x.
Advanced Checkpointing_
At the end of 2013, there was surge in media coverage for bitcoin, interest in the alt’s had reached an all time high. Feathercoin’s price peaked at x. During this period we had over x new accounts created on the forum. The surge of user’s created a whole new set of challenges for the community. Since, we now have created a set of working teams comprised of members from the community. This has helped streamline communication greatly. Anyone who is working on a feathercoin related project generally gets invited onto the team or are offered to run their own via the forum.

The first feathercoin fundraiser was for Prostate Cancer UK, an idea born from a meet up in early 2014 where a group of us standing around chatting about how crypto currencies could help with raising money for charities on a global bases due to the very low transaction fees. Prostate Cancer UK was chosen as the charity for two reason, firstly crypto is predominately a male oriented field and secondly feathercoin was born in the UK, so it just clicked and made sense. We carried out on-line raffles, lotteries, and local fundraiser at out meets ups for 3 months resulting in a massive donation of over 9,000FTC being donated to in late March 2014.

ASIC’s and changing the algo
With the surge of alt’s, the crypto landscape is becoming an endless field of clones, some with unique aspects, some appealing to a particular niche. With most though, they are simply just a rebranding of a pre-existing coin. When a new bug is found in Bitcoin or Litecoin, all the alts follow suit and update their coin. Feathercoin is one of the few that go that one step further and develop their own solution. People can come in and take their own place. The feathercoin forum is where people can get the support for their various projects from other members. It provides a platform of support for anyone who wants to come into a community environment and give it a go, to have the courage to try something they haven’t done before. If one doesn’t have an idea but wants to help, there are always projects up for bounties.
There have been many attempts to slow down or even destroy us, but the coin continues to grow, adapt and survive. The individuals involved, drive further innovation for not just ftc but also for the greater crypto community. Due to the shear size of both bitcoin, litecoin and others, they are all now in a position where they can no longer attempt risky change or experimentation. That is why the onus is on the rest of us to continue, where Satoshi left off.

He Calem, it looks like you have put some thought into this :)
maybe we could write about our heloful guides and how our guide to mining has had over 75000 reads, and during the interest surge to bitcoin in nov-january time, we had over x amount of new members join the forum.
Community and people that like to help each other out.
I always, like when Bush said people can come in take their own space - I like saying we provide a platform of support for people that want to come into a community environment and give it a go, to have the courage to try something they haven’t done before, they will get the support from other members here.
-
Would anyone like to add to this, I think if we all contribute a little something we can get something written out about us?
-
I’ve added some of your idea’s. I’ll expand upon them and add the bit about guides as well.
If someone wants to make a change or add to it, post it as a response then ill edit it in.
We could use this as a template/draft and once completed, someone could go through the whole thing and finalise it? or maybe we just keep it on the forum and we keep editing it until there’s a general consensus?
-
Really good start guys with some good points. If I think of anything Worth adding I’ll add a post.

We should decide on our lead angle - then move for three of four supporting points.
Lead Angle along the lines of - “Feathercoin, through thick and thin” [gist of it]
Quotes from Pete/Ruthie/Chris covering our evolution through trials and tribulations.
Focus on our community - Pete can support [in a positive way] his focus on building an open community where anyone is invited to participate. Not naming any names or drawing attention to LTC drama. POSITIVE throughout. Focus on contributors, their independence, initiatives [raffle and donations etc. etc]
Focus on our marketplace - We’ve built a successful and fast growing online marketplace platform from the ground up with volunteers.
Focus on our growth - especially with merchant adoption. Success story blurbs. T-shirt store, Wine, UKMark’s SMS wallet ++

Calem has a good idea of covering points. Emotive engagement with logical supporting points.
Easy to read and a clear and succinct voice.
Let’s get some opinions in! I’m going to try and monitor this thread in my spare time, so please bear with me!
Ruthie/Pete please correct some points I’ve made. Let’s get our chronology and talking points straight so no one can nitpick it.

Should UNOCS be mentioned as well… Some might point the finger if we avoid the subject all together?
I came in well after that so I know very little about the event.

Another email from the magazine
_Ruth,
Can you please pass this onto Peter Bushnell when you have an opportunity? We are unfortunately on a different time-zone than him so it’s been difficult lining up a conversation…
Hello Peter and Feathercoin Team,_
_I wanted to include some additional information on our magazine: _
Attached is our advertising rates Media Kit that I’m happy to go over with you.
An advertorial style article as a promoted coin of the month would help promote your company to a wide audience in the investment community, individual investors, and the general public in local, national, and international markets through our global distribution network on our web-site we are launching within a week, and in our magazine (launching June 1st).
The announcement of our magazine will be distributed through Bloomberg, Dow Jones, Reuters, Wall Street Journal (full page press release), and through Asia Corporate News (3500 websites, 8000 media organizations, 1.5 million professional desktops in 70 countries) - this is the kind of global publicity that companies simply cannot buy at our exceptional advertising rates; payable using almost any crypto currency, including Feathercoin (helping to reduce costs for our writers).
We’re very interested in placing your company on our third issue as an advertorial and as a Featured Coin for August 2014. Feathercoin will be featured for the month on the web-site and on the magazine, and when we do our blast through the Reuters and other network, you can expect a lot (tens of thousands or more) of people jumping to utilize your coin and mining it.We are expecting a massive push for issue #1 and #2 with many advertisers and contributors already lined up (including MasterCoin, BlackCoin, BTC China, BitPay, and prominent writers in our community). For a write up on Feathercoin, please make it 1200-1500 words for a longform feature that we will display next to the advertisement.
I’ve attached our Submission Guidelines for you as well.
Let me know if you have any questions on the advertising kit, Feathercoin team.
Let’s arrange a time for a call at your earliest convenience, Peter. You can reach me at 1 (604) 368-2994 in Vancouver BC, Canada. I can go on Skype for a call most times of the day and evening.
_Warm Regards,
Nathan Wosnack

I have not responded yet.

Ruthie, can you upload the media kit rates?
Here’s the weird thing. At first he offered to do a feature, which we would write, but made it sound like it was a free thing we can send to them and they would put up. And now he’s changed his story to doing an advertorial [with a longer article] which he’s wanting money for.
This rings alarm bells.
I want to see their rates. But it’s a bit shady to me that they want to push something as an article for money. It’s grey area. It’s also unlikely they’ll have the required analytics to show us why they’re worth their rates [since they haven’t launched]. Promises of where it is being pushed out to and what not doesn’t really work.
I’d be weary of putting any kind of money into this.

Submission Guidelines ans Media Kit attached
-
Hey - these rates are incredibly high. For those prices we can get multiple professional press releases written for us and pushed to the same channels they are offering - instead we have to write our own. And it should be noted that just because they can push out to all of those wire agencies, it doesn’t mean that the release will be picked up.
It’s literally just one press release in an ocean of press releases, every single hour of every single day.
I’d wait to see how successful their “magazine” becomes in terms of recognition and traffic after three to six months, before it would even be worth considering throwing money on the table. Just my opinion though.
-
Yes sounds fishy to me too.
Very specific numbers for a magazine that had not launched and no website to speak of.Still worth writing the article tho. See where we can put it. Did we get much press for the pcuk charity work? May be worth sending a PIC and a summary to a few local papers?
-
I would get back in touch with em’ and see if the original offer of a 700 word free article is still up for grabs.
At the very least this is making us get something together that could be used for many things.
-
+1 Calem - we should reach out and clarify. If there’s no strings attached to the original article offer, we should take it.
And as for the charity raffle, would anyone be able to compile a list of local and regional publications to send a press release to? UK based I’m assuming. We could write something up - “Human Interest” type of thing - and get in touch with the editors.
