I read about Feathercoin on the bitcoin forum a while ago and decided to start up a client node - which runs 24/7 since then and got its upgrade quickly when the fork was announced.

In the beginning I mined some FTC in a pool and then had a lucky day - the pool had technical problems, I decided to switch to solo mining and found a block (my first and only to date) within less than a day.

Browsing this forum became a regular routine and I am very impressed by the good spirit of the community. With the difficulty rising to 188 I had to revert to BTC mining to cover my electricity bill but decided to help with my 1200 kHash/s in the run to block 33000.

I still have to mine BTC for at least 12 hours a day to cover power cost so I switch my miner to FTC when I go to bed and back to BTC in the morning before I go to work. Maybe after the next step of difficulty I can afford to leave all my hash power on this chain.

Cheers to all and keep up the good work in the community !

I had the luck to solomine on the first day and get a massive amount of FTC. Unlucky was my desicion to sell 20k of them for 0.5 BTC :o About 2 weeks later they were valued over 4 BTC/1k FTC for a short time on Bter :'(

But i love my Feathercoins and have the luck to let the rig run on the university lab :P So i keep on buying new cards and i’m feeling like a little child with his LEGO’s when i’ll add another one to the rig :D

I am glad that I did not sell the few hundred I have mined :) I only sold some BTC to cover my power cost

I could cry reading that !!!

Lol I sold 600 of my 1000 because I really just wanted at least 1BTC after all the mining and faucets and lotteries and all the other mind numbing activities that were happening when I started. And I got 1 BTC for 600. Just over.

But there was no intention of making anything of it, just wanted 1 btc after all that time lol… I still don’t have anyt expectations, I’m keeping my wallet offline, and mining constantly to keep transactions helped along, and I pay a set amount so I never see an electricity bill. ha…

So I’m happy enough to have been able to try out trade, selling, buying, in the limited fashion I could… but 20k… oh man…

And look at us now, at first even I was finding blocks, lol. And the fruit was all low hanging. Now I think I’ve made 50ftc in 2 weeks… Oo

But at least I sold that 1 bitcoin I made for a new cpu so I can start building a new socket system - my LGA775 system just won’t upgrade within reason… so a LGA1155 system, at least, I can start to have the base of a new rig, one I can focus on running 24/7 and not have to throttle when I am actually using the machine.

the fun part will be procuring a new video card. as it is Im expecting to move my hd5850 into the new machine, and just use the onboard video for what I do on the old pc.

Ahh maybe I can find a few old pc’s on the side of the road… lmao… people throw out all sorts of things when they think it’s old. and people like me with 8 year old hardware, can only look on in disbelief as they do it, every single time, in the rainy weather. :(
