I saw a good idea to help where threads generate new ideas and of shoots to the discussion. I have likened them “ideas side chains”. Normally these “off topic” posts are a problem, they break up the discussion and are banned on Bitcointalk for example.

I found that BotLibre forum has the option to reply to the post, as well as the parent thread.

There was no obvious place to put the idea for discussion, so I thought it pertinent to allocate it to the “meta level” and create a general “forum development thread” for discussing the idea, how it works, getting it on Github etc…

This discussion would be a good test of “development of idea sidechains” optimising how they break out to “full projects”, perhaps as members see a solution? or such.

That sounds interesting. The solution for now is liberal modding with splits where needs be. But it gets tough with multi quotes.
