Hashrate and stale shares

When I checked p2pool.neoscrypt.de:19327 today, I noticed, that some miners only tune their GPU for high hashrate and not keeping in mind, that they need to distract the stale rate from that hashrate to calculate the effective hashrate seen by the pools.
If a miner reports a hashrate of 4 MHash/sec and 25% stale rate, the effective hashrate is 3 MHash/sec only.
Sometimes it is more efficient to reduce the mining hashrate, and mine at lower hashrate but with no or only a few stales ;)
