• RE: The Ego and Incentive Engineering of a Cryptocurrency

But when it comes to mining it isn’t just the ‘lucky’ that make the money it’s also the ones selling the shovels and spades. I’m talking about the manufacturers like KnC and Butterfly Labs; the ones who escape the rate race by giving the rats what they want. Surely that’s where the profit lies. They take your money up front (like the banks) and they teach you a lesson but you don’t see any profit until you learn from it.

What one also have to understand, the manufacturers do make some bucks of the shovels and spades, however their business plan is based on using the newest equipment first (before anyone else have them) and then selling them just about when profit is barely possible with the tools they just used. The first few in line to buy one will make big bucks and get ROI, thus pumping the reputation of the tools. However, if you’re a bit down the line you’re giving money away without a gain.

This should fall under healthy competition, nobody really lose on it :)

djm34: I’ll talk with others from the team to try and find out who can act middle man and hold the donation adress for you :)

djm34: No offence now mate, but to be honest I think the low level of donations so far mainly is because you claim to have stuff that works but in fact nobody can really vouch for that, and screenshots can very easily be manipulated as we all know.

Mind you though, I’m definitely not saying you’re a scammer, so don’t misunderstand me. But I truly believe that if you handled this in another way you’d get more donations and the CUDA-miner would see the official light of the day.

I think one big step would be if we set up an official donation address held by the FTC-team for you, that’s good intention from your side, and a guarantee for everyone investing that you simply won’t just take the money and run :)

If we decide to do it that way, someone could also hook up with you on a video chat where you can show some kind of proof that you actually tell the truth (again, I’m not stating you’re lying right now, but the crypto business is shady in general so we all need to take precautions).

Give it some thought at least :)

Ghostlander: Ahh I see your point there. Hit me up if you change your mind tho, there are after all a LOT of rigs running with 750ti out there just waiting for some better performance in NS :)

Ghostlander, if you can create a cudabased miner that performs well I’ll gladly send you a 750ti that I have over just lying in a box right now to test it on :)

an alternative is to run windows 7 of a USB-stick (don’t buy one that’s to slow, USB 3.0 with highers speeds preferred!).
Then you can run cgwatcher on each separate rig to get a good level of error handling and ease of usage, then you hook them all up to a cgremote-machine and can control them all from that in a very easy gui :)

That’s how I would have done it anyways :)

Cheers for sharing!

I think this proves that if you really want your miners to perform at a top level you have to put some time into finding the sweet spot for your particular card.

I’m new into mining but I’ve got a long background in overclocking both CPU’s and GFX cards. The most valuable lesson I’ve learned during the years is that no component are alike!.

It doesn’t matter if you have the same brand and model as someone else, there’s still no guarantee that it’ll work with identical settings. Trial and error is the only true way to be sure on how your cards will perform :)

I still think the area (open project management / support systems), is a rapidly developing area. Just reading about this -

https://www.openproject.org/

Why you will love OpenProject

OpenProject is free and open source software for project management with a wide set of features
and plugins and an active community.

I’ve looked into openproject and given it a testrun a few times over the last year. Sadly it’s a mess to use, not user friendly at all :/

okay fuck it, I’ve thought about if I should speak my mind or not all night and I’ve decided I’m not gonna hold it in…

Some of us tried to be helpful, we saw something that could be for the greater good. We even discussed it privately andcame to the conclusion that there’s nothing wrong with you wanting to get payed either.

Meanwhile, you go acting like a fucking five year old just because you get into an argumentation with one other member, and based on that calls us all morons over at btc-talk.

Well, you know what, your’e just a fucking douchebag with absolutely no honor or morale what so ever. It seems like you’re just like all the other pump n’ dumpin leeches in the crypto scene, just in it for a few quick bucks but with no intentions what so ever trying to make the world a better place.

So either release the kernel open source and do what’s right, or just go fuck yourself somewhere else.

Anyone except me having problems even getting sgminer started? It comes to the jansson line and then just dies. No binary created

Tried with as few settings as you can possibly use without no difference…

Oh and btw, great job Wolf0! Accidently opened your screenshot here at work and noticed your NSFW warning afterwards, LOL :D

5 x gigabyte 750ti

-w 128

-I 15

-g 1

-g 2 seems to be a no go on the 750 ti, I can set -i to 16 with same results but why bother if it doesn’t give anything? :)

Temperatures is stable around 22-25 degrees celsius and the whole rig meassures 290W average at socket :)

can’t wait till someone adds support for neoscrypt on the sgminer, should probably give a lot better results than this since it seems cgminer runs in dynamic mode with nvidia cards by default (if I haven’t totally misunderstood the readme)

• RE: Preventing volatility as our priority.

Or maybe the blockchain works fine as is and it’s US that need to “mature” instead?

It’s not necessarily the blockchain itself that’s the problem today, rather the utilities and services revolving around it. We still don’t have good enough payment solutions for example, something that’s desperately needed in order for business owners to start accepting crypto on a wider basis. That area is however evolving :)

But yeah, the states in general (not just US) need to mature it’s view on crypto aswell. Right now we’re in some kind of limbo where the states and the respective IRS department haven’t got a clue on how to handle crypto. Their solution is at best shitty as fuck where they stick their heads in the sand and pretend that crypto is a problem that will go away by itself if you just hide long enough.

• RE: Preventing volatility as our priority.

Trying to fight the association with fiat is pointless since it’s the dominant currency of today. Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day (fuck yeah, finally got to use that cheesy expression! ;D ).

When crypto evolves and become even more mature people will start using it more and more. Integrity and privacy are big areas of concern for a lot of people today, and more are waking up each day, realizing that they want to have a right to privacy and integrity. Crypto currency is not just a big middle finger to the bank systems, it’s also a big “fuck you in the face” to states trying to control their citizens with dishonest methods like mass surveilance and what not.

• RE: Preventing volatility as our priority.

I’m more on wrappers side here. The thought to solve this with some sort of algorithm is tempting at first, but remember that it’s always possible to reverse engineer such a thing, thus making it possible to manipulate (it’s always just a matter of time).

It’s of greater importance to get the coin widespread and used by more people in their everyday normal life. Right now the value is decided by the price on a stock exchange, hence it’s hard to relate what a coin is actually worth. If people on the other hand know that a coke costs a certain amount of coins at one place, one can expect it to cost about the same at another place.

tl;dr

When people can relate to what a coin is worth by exchanging it for goods the coin will most likely stabilize more or less by itself :)
