Just something I very quickly through together for a yard sale we had at the house recently. I cant take full credit, I just added Feathercoin to the image I found on Google - so credit to whoever created it originally.

    • RE: block accounts

I dont know all the details of this and am probably going to regret getting involved but my opinion of the matter is that if FTC was “donated” for a bounty then that should be the only use for it. Not converting to BTC, not selling high to try and play the market, etc. The coin should sit in a wallet until the bounty is able to be paid or until long enough time has passed without anyone claiming it that the bounty is canceled.

@kelsey said in Roadmap for FTC.:

Currently FTC is already 10 times faster / 10 times max transactions than BTC, so implementing Segwit it isn’t urgent for any technical reason.

Segwit is a lot more than just a capacity increase. There are many technical reasons to implement segwit, see: https://bitcoincore.org/en/2016/01/26/segwit-benefits/

yes we’ve all read 1001 segwit is the greatest thing since slice bread articles, most of the perceived benefits are a loooong stretch if you understand what segwit is (and its not that complex).

do you understand who initially pushed it though? and the reason for it?

name a single killer benefit for feathercoin?

now if everyone goes down the segwit path why not do something different, hey lets go crazy and stick with on chain transaction, ftc has the capacity and thats added security over and above any theoretical malleability fix.

I have to say, Ive been a fan of SegWit since I first heard about it. I try very very hard to not bother with the politics of it (or politics in general). In my, possibly limited, knowledge of SegWit, it was pushed as a fix for the malleability fix but also had some additional benefits beyond that - one of which was a “block size increase”.
You bring up a good point that today, FTC can handle 10x the transactions of BTC even without SegWit. I dont pretend to fully understand how this all works in the back end but I think that with faster block times an attacker has less time to form and issue a malleability attack on FTC compared to BTC. Maybe its not as big of a concern for FTC when you consider everything?
The other hand is the idea of closely following BTC and LTC by implementing SegWit. This has some advantages such as atomic swaps or whatever its called, basically shapeshift but built in. It also gives devs an advantage because the code is so similar it makes implementing all three coins into their software much easier and quicker.

Just some quick thoughts… I think it would be worth the discussion regardless of which direction we go.

    • Cryptopia rating

I saw on Cryptopia that they have a rating system for coins, FTC was rated at 3.5/5 stars so I looked into improving the rating. We currently are at 4/5 with the only remaining star to be gained from posting a thread on their forum.

Which I did as seen here: https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/1522

Im in contact with support to verify this and we will get 5/5 gold star status on Cryptopia! :)

Someone is playing on Bittrex at the moment. I put a small order in just to top off my wallet to a nice even number, part of the order processed and a bit later I look and see pages and pages of 50FTC buy orders. You can see them as far down as 1137sat.

    • Feathercoin Halving

Looks like we are 76 days out from the halving. July 6th is the current estimate.

Is this Feathercoins first halving? I know the reward was changed at one point but that wasnt a halving.

      Should we party?!? :)

    • RE: Who is buying?

@Moonman I’ll let someone else handle this question. I have no ability to predict price. My reason for buying is that while its pretty slow around here, those who are still here are dedicated. There are some very smart and gifted people working behind the scenes of this community. I came here originally, years ago, to mine just for profit but quickly started to see beyond that. Feathercoin has been around longer than most others and has gotten past some rough times in its past. Its not going away anytime soon and I’d like to be here for the ride. I have no clue on the price other than “up” and “up” is good! :)

    • RE: Is there still any activity for Feathercoin

Not dead, just a bit slow maybe… There are a lot of good people here still. This is a good place to come if you want to jump in and get your hands dirty. There are a lot of projects that were left half finished or needing updated. If the Bitcoin community is a bit too developed for you but you still want to play - youre in the right spot.

@wrapper said in Feathercoin - Analysis of possible maximum Transactions block / Dustcoin "attack" 25/10/2016:

@AmDD Further to consolidating dust payments, I was readings this :

      https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/5583/how-can-i-combine-all-the-tiny-amounts-ive-received-to-minimise-transaction-fee

I’m sure similar criteria apply to FTC blockchain. e.g.

      Quote :
"If your coins are old enough (say, 3 months for 10 BTC and a 200KB transaction size) [3], then the official client might not enforce the minimum fee on your transaction. Otherwise you may need to use a modified client that doesn’t enforce a minimum fee.

In any case you will need to point your client to Lightfoot Hosting’s free transaction relay, which will relay any transaction to the network [2], so it can be picked up by Eligius."

However, looks like over 1/3 of your dust payments got through. It would be interesting to see if that was due to the high proportion of Feathercoin p2pool, or other pool types not adjusting to prefer certain transactions.

This was long enough ago that I dont remember the details and I didnt record the data anywhere. That being said, I remember doing 2-3 different runs, one of which was looped about 30,000 times. I recall seeing on the explorer that the transactions in the blocks did not add up to the 30-40,000 total transactions BUT my receiving wallet does have about 38,000 transactions into it so they all must have gone through. I’ll look into what my options are with the dust now - or Ill just hold it until FTC is $1000 each :)

Things change and @Bushstar may not be available, so we could do with a web site reference / wiki? (that covers the same information ) that Bush can easily copy the info we want from.
Plus a post to the BitcoinTalk thread with the latest info …

I already talked to bush about it, hes willing to copy my changes into the thread. It may not be something that happens often but he will do it this time at least.

    • RE: Feathercoin 2019 the plan?

Id give my vote to the POW/POS idea. I know thats a big change and a lot of work but I think it gives us a number of advantages.
It solves the difficulty issue as stated above.
adds a layer of security as a 51% now requires more than just a lot of hashrate
it gives people a second mining option for income
in order to stake you need to run a node, more nodes helps distribute the network

    • RE: Neoscrypt ASIC mining - outlook...?

Is constantly forking to fight off ASICs worth it? (not saying we are, just a general thought) There are some advantages of ASICs on a network and it seems like eventually they will be developed for every algorithm.

That being said, I think this is likely a scam. Im sure @ChekaZ will confirm once he has more info.

When you reinstalled the wallet, did you let it resync? or just use the old blockchain data files? Id personally delete everything but the wallet.dat file, then reinstall. Let it sync and then replace the new wallet.dat with your existing one.
